Global warming consequences
Global warming is the issue which has received the maximum exposure than any other topic. Global warming always gathers its share of controversies and debates when it is pursued very religiously. To offer ones views on the topic or to start new trends of debates one should be well equipped with the requisite data . Some of the interesting facts on Global warming are outlined below
* Climate change is observed worldwide.
* Average temperature of earth has increased by 0.8 degrees since last 100 years.
* Higher levels of CO2 have caused ocean acidification.
* Most of the densely populated Low lying coastal regions are more vulnerable to climate shifts.
* Winter of 2003-2004 was the 33rd coldest in the North Eastern America since the records began in 1896.
The big debate in the global warming world at the moment is whether global warming is man made or completely natural. A combination of both, I think is the logical and clear answer. There is no denying that the natural cycle of the planets environment has bought on extreme weather conditions in the past but never as bad as predicted this time. Studies show that man made influences are adding to the cycle considerably. So, how to prevent global warming? Many ways are being pushed upon society.
Turn your lights off, turn your T.V. off, walk to the shop, and buy a greener car. But can all these little things actually add up to make a difference? Or do we need to put pressure on the corporations. This is where the real emissions are coming from. Yes of course we need to do all the little things ourselves. Lead by example right? But big pressure from the public and the governments on the large companies and corporations really is the answer.
That being said, it needs to happen now. Studies show that we’ve almost gone past the point of no return. Our planet has been abused to the point that it can’t take anymore. So we need to turn the lights off, TVs off, PCs off, walk and take the bus. But we need to find a way to rally together now; this threat is 10 fold the threat of nuclear war or even the past threats of world wars. It is a subtle enemy sneaking up on us from behind, and it is an enemy with great power. Once Again, How to prevent global warming? We need our governments to implement emergency laws, use the power of the media to influence those who are not aware or are too stubborn or selfish to do anything about it. We need to take a stand now!

History of Magnets and Their Uses
Magnets have been in use at least as far back as the 4th Century BC and likely even earlier. A Chinese tome from that era titled “Book of the Devil Valley Master” details the magnetic properties found in certain types of rock. It wasn’t much later that Chinese sailors were taking advantage of magnets by developing compasses.
Ancient Uses for Magnets
As knowledge of magnets and their properties spread around the world, some of the applications proved quite unusual. Magnets were at one point believed to restore youthful properties to skin, so much so that Cleopatra is rumored to have slept on a bed of magnetized rock. In the middle ages, various practices arose centered around magnets; some were merely superstitious and some have been found to have merit to this day.
The Chinese continued to find practical applications for magnets, including within the realm of medicine. In ancient China, heated magnets were often placed along the spine in order to align the spirit, and this belief is still practiced by some to this day. There is even currently work being done examining the curative effect that magnets and magnetic pulses can have on brain function, pain reception, blood properties, and nerve damage.
Magnets in Today’s World
The use of magnets in modern medicine continues as magnets are sometimes used in reflexology and even play a large part in modern medical technology such as the magnetoencephalography devices used to monitor brain activity.
Today, magnets are commonly used in thousands of mechanized applications. Electric motors and generators are entirely based around magnets. In such devices, magnets surrounded by electrical coils are moved by the current being passed through the coils, generating energy. Variations on this electro-magnet technology can be found in dozens of common modern devices and appliances, including cell phones, doorbells, computers, video game systems, and others.
And it’s not just the tiny magnets. Massive magnets play an integral part in construction and industrial applications. Large truck-mounted magnets are commonly used to clear construction sites of debris. Giant crane-mounted magnets are responsible for heavy lifting at construction and shipping sites. And large industrial magnets are installed in factory conveyor belt systems to separate materials.
Ironically, the “ancient” technology of magnets is responsible for one of the most futuristic of modern conveyances-the magnet train. As popularized in Japan, the magnet train relies on a field created between two magnets’ north poles (one on the train itself and one along the tracks) to lift the train, causing it to “hover” on a cushion of air. This in turn allows the train to travel safely at incredibly high speeds while providing an uncannily smooth ride. This technology, known as MAGLEV (magnetic levitation) is now making its way to America.
In fact, there are various plans in the works to build a MAGLEV train connecting large US metropolitan areas. This MAGLEV train will reach speeds up to 300 miles per hour, delivering passengers in a fraction of time compared to the same trip by car. As concern grows over energy efficiency and environmental responsibility in transportation, MAGLEV trains truly look poised to be the transportation of the future.
And that’s not to mention the fun side of magnets. Refrigerator magnets have a long tradition as an entertaining and colorful method for posting up everything from important reminders to children’s artwork. And magnets also have a long history in toys; they can be found in everything from magnetic construction sets to “Magna-Doodle” art devices to wall-crawling Spider-Man action figures.
Magnets have even made their way into the arts. “Magnetic poetry” kits are a popular way to compose random poems by arranging magnetized words against a metal surface. Some professional artists, such as Sachiko Kodoma, have even taken to incorporating magnets into their gallery exhibits. The popular X-Men series of movies and comic books even feature a character, Magneto, who wields power over gravitational forces.
So magnets are truly a unique commodity. They are an ancient discovery that is still utilized in applications as diverse as brain wave analysis, construction, high-speed mass transit, navigation, decoration, and even poetry composition. You can’t say that for too many other rocks.

The Governor by Rod Blagojevich
The author of the book, Rod Blagojevich provides a detailed account of his mismanagement and defends his own model of governing in an America’s fifth largest state – Illinois in his own book “The Governor” thereby stating his approach, which are not plenty to induce a smile, yet sufficient to crack a laugher, so avoid too much laugher, that would ache your cheese!
The author after giving a detailed interview that is aimed to advertise his literary work, during the NBC Today Show and the CBS Early Show in New York City rushes towards his room in the hotel.
Interestingly, he is aptly trying to cash his crime, by publishing his own written book therein defending himself on the one hand, and misquoting his wrongdoing on the other, yet despite all his efforts, he fails to befool the readers of his book, in general and American people, in particular.
In the interview, the author of the book is trying to present his serenade to restore his image in the public. In this move, he narrates some jokes to impress the audience and tries to clarify his position about massive mismanagement and corruption accusations.
Despite the fact that, he is under trail for the last many months yet showing a cheerful disposition, during the interview with CBS “The Early Show”.
The writer of the book reveals his reservations that caused to go under the bars, as other accomplishes who were indicted in the crime are also enjoying the privileges of dungeon – the close people of the writer, have now started reveling the facts of their crime and appear fully assisting to the team of prosecutors, at the justice department.
“It’s an embarrassment,” said McLean in New York. “If you travel anywhere in the country or anywhere in the world, you have to hear about this guy” : few people giggle and many crack laughers.
Debbye Turner Bell, the co-anchor of “Early Show” said, she was familiar with his past campaigns because she used to work in St. Louis. Blagojevich interrupted her, and hesitatingly grumbled “none of this stuff [about me] is true, by the way. The people present at the show cracked a big laugher yet I (the reviewer made a giggle merely).
Blagojevich says he needs to proclaim his incorruptibility – to all people. The people don’t care and never listen to him, yet they only offer some chuckles for his discussions. “You want to shout from the mountaintop that it ain’t so,” one the present at the scene said. “I don’t have a mountaintop, so I did the next best thing and wrote a book” : all start cracking big laughers.
Conclusion is that, the writer has committed mismanagement and corruption or not, yet he has provided a good stuff to crack the laugher, that is entirely true. In other words, O! Writer you are great, in one way or the other, you have given some cheerful moments to the viewers and readers, our thanks goes to you.
